Summer is just about here again. School is out, the gardens and fruit trees are starting to produce, and it looks like we are going to have a bounteous harvest this year. The weather is warm and life is a bit easier.
 However, after summer comes fall and then winter. Since the beginning of the human race, summer has been the time to prepare for the more difficult days ahead. Even in these times of seemingly limitless convenience we must never forget that trouble can and does come to us all, and the next disaster may be just around the corner. Now is the perfect time to put away a little extra food and other supplies, and to evaluate our state of preparedness.
This month we are featuring grain mills, alternative grains, and food storage recipe books. Remember that your stored grain won't be of much use unless you have the tools to process it and the knowledge to cook with it!
