Keep the bugs at bay! If you are canning your own dry goods, these oxygen absorbers will help keep them fresh much longer, preventing weevil and other insect infestations. One packet is sufficient for a container up to 3 gallons in size. For a 4, 5, or 6 gallon bucket, use two packets.
For best results, we recommend the use of a ziplock mylar liner bag as follows:
- Open the liner bag and place it in the bucket.
- Pour the food into the bag.
- Add two oxygen absorber packets.
- Squeeze out the excess air and zip the bag closed tightly.
- Fold or roll the top of the bag so it fits completely inside the bucket.
- Put the lid on the bucket and use a rubber mallet to seal it tightly.

IMPORTANT: These packets must be kept in an airtight container. If they are exposed to open air for more than 30-45 minutes they will lose their ability to absorb oxygen. Work quickly when using the packets, and store any leftover packets in a vacuum-sealed bag or other completely airtight container.
